About This Journey
The shortest Japan route that still covers all three things most first-time travellers want: the scale of Tokyo, a proper Mount Fuji view, and the temple quarters of Kyoto. The Fuji night is spent in a ryokan at Lake Kawaguchi rather than a city hotel.
Metro passes and a professional guide are included, and the pace leaves evenings free in both Tokyo and Kyoto. Cherry blossom and autumn departures book well ahead and are priced separately.
Day by Day
Tokyo arrival
Arrive in Tokyo and transfer to your hotel, with the rest of the day free to adjust and explore nearby.
Tokyo city
Guided tour across Tokyo, finishing with an evening transfer to Shinjuku for the neon district, food alleys, and shopping streets.
Lake Kawaguchi and Mount Fuji
Travel to the Fuji Five Lakes. Visit Arakurayama Sengen Park for the pagoda and Fuji view, then the thatched village museum at Iyashi No Sato Nenba. Overnight in a ryokan, a traditional Japanese inn.
Kawaguchiko to Kyoto
Stop at the Toyota Museum en route, then continue to Kyoto and check in with the evening at leisure.
Kyoto temples
Visit Tenryu-ji Temple and the Arashiyama bamboo forest, then Fushimi Inari, the Imperial Palace grounds, and Kinkaku-ji, with a transfer to Gion in the evening.
Kyoto departure
Transfer to Kansai International Airport for your onward flight.
