About This Journey
The shortest way to see northern Vietnam properly: two nights in Hanoi either side of an overnight Halong Bay cruise, with a Ninh Binh day for the limestone river landscapes inland. It suits travellers with a week or less, or anyone adding Vietnam onto a longer regional trip.

Day by Day
Hanoi arrival
Arrive at Noi Bai International Airport and transfer into the city. The evening is free around Hoan Kiem Lake and the Old Quarter street food stalls.
Hanoi city
Half-day tour covering Ba Dinh Square, the Ho Chi Minh complex exterior, the One Pillar Pagoda, the Temple of Literature, and Tran Quoc Pagoda, with the afternoon free in the Old Quarter.
Hanoi to Halong Bay
Drive to Halong Bay and board an overnight cruise through the limestone karsts, with lunch on board, a cave or floating village visit, kayaking where conditions allow, and dinner at anchor.
Halong Bay to Ninh Binh
Morning cruising and brunch on board before disembarking, then continue to Ninh Binh for Hoa Lu and a Trang An sampan ride through the river caves. Return to Hanoi for the night.
Hanoi departure
Free time for last-minute shopping before your airport transfer and onward flight.
