About This Journey
An Iberian crossing that starts on the Atlantic in Lisbon and finishes inland in Madrid, taking the pilgrimage and university towns most coastal itineraries skip. Tomar brings the Templar Convent of Christ, Fatima the sanctuary, and Salamanca its sandstone university quarter.
Two nights each in Lisbon, Porto, and Madrid give the three big cities proper time, with one night in Salamanca breaking the long inland leg. Intercity transfers run by luxury coach and every major stop includes a guided tour.
Day by Day
Lisbon arrival
Arrive in Lisbon and transfer to your hotel, with the evening free in the Baixa or Alfama quarters.
Lisbon
Guided tour of Lisbon covering the Belem tower and monastery quarter, the hilltop viewpoints, and the tram routes through the old town.
Tomar, Fatima and Porto
Travel north with a visit to the Templar Convent of Christ at Tomar and the sanctuary at Fatima, then continue to Porto for check-in.
Porto
Guided tour of Porto covering the Ribeira riverfront, the Dom Luis bridge, and the historic centre, with time for the port lodges across the Douro.
Porto to Salamanca
Cross into Spain to Salamanca for a guided tour of its sandstone old town, the Plaza Mayor, and one of the oldest universities in Europe.
Salamanca to Madrid
Continue to Madrid and check in, with the evening free around the Puerta del Sol and Gran Via.
Madrid
Guided tour of Madrid covering the royal quarter, the Plaza Mayor, and the main boulevards, with the afternoon open for the Prado or the Retiro gardens.
Madrid departure
Breakfast and checkout, then a transfer to the airport for your homebound flight.
